I've Moved!

Nothing against blogger, but it wasn't allowing me to fufill my blogging needs... hence why I stopped blogging. But I didn't want to stop blogging! I still want to create, so I decided to move to Wordpress. Now, I haven't gotten the self hosting Wordpress (although I probably should), but I wanted to make sure Wordpress.com is more of what I am looking for in a blogging tool.

I imported all the posts from this blog onto my new one in hopes of creating a seamless transition.

Check it out and let me know what you think!

50 Questions to Open Your Mind pt. 2 | Questions 6-10

Here we are for questions 6-10!
One of my goals/to do's/things to try on my Day Zero Project is to complete the 50 Questions to Free Your Mind. Now, there are fifty of them, and there is no WAY I am going to answer them all at once in one blog entry. Instead, I am going to answer a few at a time! This will allow me to give more thorough answers (something I am really bad at) versus giving one or two sentence answers.

6. If happiness was the national currency, what kind of work would make you rich?
I've always tried to follow through with "do what makes you happy," and that is probably why I have a thousand hobbies and can't pick what someone would view as a career. I just want to do everything all of the time. I don't think just one thing would "make me rich," instead, I think just having the freedom to go learn new things and going on adventures to places would be more than enough.

7. Are you doing what you believe in, or are you settling for what you are doing?
I first have to think of what it is I believe in, and the first thing that comes to mind is just being a good person. This may mean different things to different people, but to me it means being nice to other people. Let people live their lives how they want to live them, don't try to change someone so they can cater to me. I think I am doing an okay job at that, I know I struggle with it sometimes, but everyone does.

8. If the average human life span was 40 years, how would you live your life differently?
I know I would definitely travel more. I would travel to Europe, Australia, places in Asia... just literally everywhere. Money wouldn't be as much as an object as it is now, I'm not sure how but I would figure it out. Oh, and I would definitely try to get over my fear of spiders.... and find somewhere to cuddle a shark.... and actually learn how to spell definitely, because I can't spell it (thank you spell check).

9. To what degree have you actually controlled the course your life has taken?
If you know me (or ever get to know me) I am a very "go with the flow" kind of person, even more so in my early twenties. I had no control over my life, and I didn't really want too much of it. I wanted to go out with friends, I didn't have any long term goals. My goal was to work enough to get a paycheck so I can pay for rent and rum, and maybe some gas for my car. Looking back, I could have changed how I did many things and my life would be COMPLETELY different than it is now, but I like how my life is now and I wouldn't change it for the world.

10. Are you more worried about doing things right, or doing the right things?
I am more worried about doing the right thing, If I knowingly do something wrong, like go buy makeup when I clearly have an internet bill to pay, I feel guilty about it (not that I do that Catherine :P). If I have to question something for more than a few seconds I usually seek out second or third opinions before I make a decision myself. (This answer was a disaster because I have no idea how to word what I want to say?)

My Favorite Spring Activities

Ah. April. Spring is upon us, it's getting warmer, and bugs are starting to come out. Best time of the year, right? I would say each season has its pros and cons, but I'm only here to talk about the pros! I'm actually here to tell you some of my favorite spring activities! These are some that I've developed while being in Florida, some from back home in California.

1. Being outside
If you have been in California or Florida during the spring, you'd discover the weather is quite bipolar. Sometimes it rains for four days straight, other days it's ninety degrees outside, or even sometimes it's 60 degrees (which is cold to me, okay), or if you're in Florida it's still ninety degrees AND raining, but hey it's Florida. My favorite time of year to be outside is mid-late spring and mid-late fall. It's not too hot, not too cold, and usually not raining. The sunshine is nice, the breeze is cool, and again, it's usually not raining, so it's great to be outside.

2. Go on a picnic
This is one I haven't done in a few years, but if I have a day off, I'll rarely turn down a picnic! I used to go to. Lake back home with great grandparents when I was a kid. Go on walks around the lake, feed the ducks, chase the squirrels, get chased by geese. You know, kid things.

3. Go on a hike
Not many places in Florida to go hiking. A lack of mountains helps with that. But back home, my fiancĂ© and I would go on hikes. Some easy, some difficult, some had a mix! The last time we went hiking, we got lost and ended up on the opposite side of the lake from where we were trying to be. That was my fault, I'll admit it. But we both slept like logs that night. You're welcome.

4. Go fishing
Now what Florida has that San Diego lacked was fishing holes. Yeah, there are a few lakes, but unless you were fishing at 3am with magic bait, you were catching zilch. But in Florida, there are ponds and lakes and rivers everywhere that you can fish to your hearts desire (legally of course). I've yet to actually catch a fish, but they are well fed. Again, you're welcome.

5. Watch thunderstorms on the patio
There also isn't many thunder storms back home, but there are plenty out here in the lovely sunshine state. We haven't had any lately (except for two nights ago) but during the summer, it's almost a nightly occurrence. They are easy to watch because a) again, no mountains to block the view of a storm. 20 some miles way and b) rain isn't synonymous with cold, like in California. The fiancĂ© and I watched a thunderstorm about 10 miles away from us, on our porch wearing pants and T shirts. Not something I could have easily done in California.

Those the top 5 of my favorite spring activities, so far. What are yours? I would love to hear about them!

50 Questions to Free Your Mind : Part One, Questions 1-5

Hello everyone!

 Here we go!!

1. How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?
   - I don't know if this is asking how old I would be if I could choose, or how old I would think I am. I got mistaken for a high schooler yesterday, which is always awesome. If I could freely choose my age, I don't think I would. Age doesn't define someone. Maturity does. I've known some nineteen year olds that act more like adults than some thirty-somethings that I know, and vice-versa. I have known people that matured way faster than other people the same age as them. Age really is just a number of how many years someone has been on this planet.

2. Which is worse, failing or never trying?
  - Failing definitely sucks, but at least an attempt was made. I think it'd be way worse to not attempt something you've been wanting to do, than try said thing and fail at it. It's about the experience, the journey, how you get there, not about the destination.

3. If life is so short, why do we do so many things we don’t like and like so many things we don’t do?
   - I think doing something you don't like is part of life. There will always be things that people don't want to do. No one wants to go to a job they don't like (some people are fortunate enough to not be sucked into that world), no one wants to pay taxes, no one wants to do anything serious like that. However, if life was all fun and games, society wouldn't be what we know it to be today. To answer the second part of that question, I believe people like things they don't do because it's something to appreciate. For example, I am absolutely terrible and anything with art. I can't draw to save my life, but when I see art, I appreciate its beauty, and I appreciate the effort the artist put into it.

4. When it’s all said and done, will you have said more than you've done?
   - Not really sure what this question is asking either. I am interpreting it as "are you doing things you want to do rather than wishing you are" or something to that extent. I would have to say yes and no, but there isn't a lot of change/things that I'd wish upon myself at the moment. There will be plenty of time in the future to make plans for other things. I do feel like I am forever stuck in between "if you want something done, you have to do it yourself" and "see where life takes you." It sucks being there sometimes, but at the same time, it can be really exciting!

5. What is the one thing you’d most like to change about the world?
   - Judgement. Everyone is so judgmental of everyone else. What clothes she's wearing, what job he has, what her hair looks like, what his shoes look like, what job she has, what his sexual orientation is, what political party they belong to, what car she drives, how nonathletic he is.... I could go on. Everyone does it, unfortunately, I've caught myself doing it too. I feel if everyone STOPPED judging everyone, peoples lives would change for the better. People would be happier, more friendly towards everyone, and half of the problems this country has would be gone.

If you would like to answer these questions, or if you have, please leave me a link to where you answered the questions down in the comments below! If you haven't, and you'd like to, I invite you to answer these questions with me!

I'm back! Here's an update, AND NEW STUFF

So I realize I have seriously neglected this blog for the past few months, and I apologize. I'm not going to give an excuse, because that's really lame. BUT, what I am going to do is tell you all what I've been up to since January!

- I've been real active on my YouTube channel.
- I created a gaming channel on YouTube
- Catherine got promoted!
- we both have completed several Pinterest projects, all of which I failed to document (but I can tell you all about them in another post!)
- We got gym memberships, and actually used them.
- I've been eating way healthier.
- I've completed a few more goals off my Day Zero Project, which I will also go over in a separate blog post.

Yeah that's about it.

I do want to share a bit about the gym situation. This is my fourth gym membership, and I'm completely excited about it!! I've had two before (three if you count the mandated health class gym time in college) and this is the first time I haven't felt like I am wasting my time, or just plain uncomfortable. I always felt so out of place in gyms. Now I'm not going to lie, I still do feel a bit out of place at the gym I'm at now, but I no longer care what people are thinking. Everyone at the gym is there for one reason, to better themselves in some way, shape, or form. Once I got that through my head, I began feeling way more comfortable in the gym. Yes, there are still things I prefer to do at home or in a secluded room, but hey, I'm at the gym!

I've had my membership for 6 days now, and I've gone 4 times, plus one workout at home.
I can't wait to start seeing a change in my body! I know it'll take time, but the time is gonna pass anyway, so might as well be active during that time.

What I want to do is add some fitness posts to this bog. I want to use it as a place to write down fitness goals, updates, and find some motivation. Don't worry, the other posts will still happen!

So, lovely readers, tell me in the comments below what you've been up to since January! Have you been keeping up with your New Year Resolutions? Have you made some recent goals? Let me know!

Quest For The Perfect Red Lip: MAC Ruby Woo

.For those of you who know me, and the rest are about to find out, I have forever been on a quest to find the perfect red lipstick. I have used many different brands, many different colors. Some I like, and some I don't. What I've discovered is that I am able to wear pretty much any color, any reds with any undertone, and have it look alright. However, I am looking for certain qualities of a lipstick. What are these qualifiers you ask?
 Must Be Matte.
I want it to dry to a matte finish (preferred) or I can use translucent powder over it to make it matte. I can't stand the feel of gloss, and I hate how messy non-matte lipsticks are. I get it all over my teeth, straws, food, and my chin, no matter how careful I am.
Easy Application
I hate waking up unnecessarily early to get ready for work. My every day makeup consists of simple foundation with slight contouring, a somewhat neutral eye with winged liner, and a bold red lip. Minus the red lip, I have this routine down to about 15 minutes, depending how my hands are handling my eyeliner. I want to find a red lipstick that I can apply quickly and have it look like I spent time doing it.

Seems easy enough right? One would think. If you have seen my YouTube videos, you know I wear red lipstick in just about all of them. Chances are, they are different lipsticks. I buy many different lipsticks all the time, I almost have more lipsticks than eyeshadows (now thats a feat!).

What I want to do is take you on this quest while giving you reviews of different lipsticks I find.

Today I am going to be reviewing MACs Ruby Woo Retro Matte lipstick.

MAC has always been a brand I was scared to try. Why? Because it costs at least sixteen dollars for a lipstick, and depending on the collection and type, could cost more. I also secretly didn't want to give in to MAC, for that I don't really have a legitimate reason.

But since I have been on this quest for the perfect red lip, Ruby Woo has caught my attention and has been calling my name. I caved in Chistmas Eve.

It is a retro matte. This means that it is going to be at matte as it can be. Mattest of the matte. Matte Queen.
The applications is okay. It's not the easiest, because it is SUPER matte, it's also really chalky upon application. The ONLY thing I don't like about it, is that it dries out my lips and starts just peeling off after a few hours. I do use a NYX lip primer, but one of my friends told me the best way to remedy the peeling is to use the matching lip liner from MAC to fill in your lips before application. I haven't tried that yet, but it has been tolerable. I'm usually home by the time peeling begins. Other than that, it is BEAUTIFUL. It is a true blue toned red, and is very VERY opaque after a few beginning layers are applied. There is zero to little color transfer to food and straws (easy foods like snacks, wouldn't recommend for pastas and soups), and virtually none to other people, making this lipstick 100% kissable. Now I wouldn't recommend making out with the lipstick on, but you get what I'm saying.
It IS a MAc lipstick, so it also has that delicious vanilla aroma, if that is important to you.

tl;dr
Pros
True blue toned red. Very matte. Smells like vanilla. Kissable. Very little ( simple) food/straw transfer. Very opaque. No feathering.
Cons
Expensive. Chalky. Peels after a few hours. Doesn't survive messy dinners (noodles, burgers, etc).

Overall, I would give this lipstick an A-.... I know there's perfection out there somewhere.
I'm sure this lipstick would be an A+ if I tried that lipliner trick though..

Do you use this lipstick? Do you have one you want me to try?
Let me know in the comment section below!

Our Propsal Story!

Oh how I've told this story a thousand times, but I'll be telling it the rest of my life, so I better get used to it!

But for now, I'm going to write it here, so lovely people of the internet can be in on the story too! What story is that, you ask? Its the story about how my girlfriend proposed to me!

I have a video on my Youtube Channel about the day leading up to the event, so I'm just going tell you about the actual proposal.

We went on a horse drawn carriage ride in St. Augustine, Florida, which if you haven't been, its absolutely beautiful. This time of year they have their Christmas lights up, and it's just breath taking. St. Augustine has a couple of what they call "love trees," which are palm trees that seem to have grown in the middle of another tree, picture below.
Source
Now, there are three of these trees in Downtown St. Augustine, but only one is deemed "The Love Tree" by society, and Catherine. On the tour, our guide/driver said on the third one, we would be able to get out an take pictures! We go on the tour, he tells us about the city, its rich history, a few jokes, and a bunch of wedding venue details. Now, I just thought he was telling us about wedding venues in St. Augustine because it's a popular place to get married! Little did I know, he's the carriage driver that gets all the couples who are doing marriage proposals, but I digress.

We pull up to the third "love tree" and our driver starts saying how he has done 70 marriage proposals, most in front of the love tree, and he hasn't seen anyone decline yet. We stop in front of the tree, and he says, "the best part about it, is that there is usually one person that has no idea of what is going on..." He then turns around, looks at me, looks at Catherine, looks at me again, and back at her, and then turns back around and continues the tour. Now, I thought it was odd, and it started to feel awkward... but I let it slide. (You see, Catherine missed her cue! But its okay... she improvises later in her state of almost-panic).

The tour continues, he tells us about Flagler College and it's history, and more about wedding venues and such. When the tour was over, he pulled up to the curb, and Catherine ripped the blanket off of us, took the Coke bottle I had out of my hand and ushered me out of the carriage, all in a matter of seconds. She then put the Coke bottle back in the carriage! I was about to get SO upset with her, we are adults... we can throw away our own trash! I turn around to grab the Coke bottle, and turn back around at her to shoot her a nasty look, only to find her on one knee!

I instinctively ask ".... what are you doing...?" which apparently threw her off of whatever she was about to say. After getting through a few "uhs" and "ums," she asked me to marry her!

Of course, I said yes!!

After both of us internally freaking out and fighting back tears of happiness, we apparently took pictures in the carriage. ( I don't really remember doing so, but we did!)

On our way back to our car, she started telling me her MONTHS of planning, and telling me that literally EVERYONE knew what was happening... and then it all made sense. Looking back, there were MAJOR clues that she was going to propose, and I still giggle to myself about it.

That is the story about how she proposed to me!
What was your proposal story?
