Cross Country Driving!!

So as everyone knows, back in July, Catherine and I moved across the county from California to Florida. I wanted to vlog the journey, but I was driving, and when Catherine was driving, I was sleeping. So instead, I took pictures, and I am sharing those with you all, and some stories to go along with it!

We left San Diego around 8am after we loaded up the U-Haul. I have never driven with a trailer before, so I was pretty intimidated. Prior to us leaving, we agreed that I would take the morning/early afternoon shift, and she would take the afternoon/evening shift. The best way for me, personally, to get over a fear or something that makes me uncomfortable, is to just do it. After driving through East County San Diego (lots of mountains, windy roads heading towards Ocotillo Wells), I felt like I could drive through anything. Afterwards, the hardest part of the drive was behind us.

It was all ugly desert until we got to Arizona. Then it turned into the pictures you see below. (sorry for the angle of the photos, I need to get into the habit of changing my phone to landscape for pictures >.<)

Two rainstorms out in the distance in Arizona

After that, it was literally desert all the way until central Texas.

Let me tell you some stories about Texas.

The first story we have about Texas, well, we weren't technically in Texas yet. We were going though the Border Patrol Checkpoint at the border of New Mexico and Texas. Let it be known that Catherine has "unlucky" tattooed on her left arm, and "lucky" on her right arm (with some other impressive artwork, but more on that later). It was later in the afternoon, so she was driving. We pulled up to the BP Agent and the first thing he says after asking us how we are doing is asking Catherine "So, are you lucky or unlucky today?" I notice that Catherine is confused, and is thinking that he is going to make us unload our trailer and the truck to make sure we weren't transporting anything. I quickly catch on and say "well... she does have lucky on this arm...!" He snickered, and Catherine realized he was joking, and he let us go. We laughed for the next hour about the situation.

The next Texas story is probably easily, hands down, my favorite story about the trip. I forget exactly where in Texas is was, but we stopped at a gas station that was a major rest stop on the highway. It was pretty busy, so naturally the bathrooms had lines. I was pretty close to the front of a line when a woman comes in, waiting for her kids, or friends, I don't know exactly. But after a moment she says (in an almost quiet bathroom), "come on y'all. I've had babies faster than this." I naturally had no idea how to react, since I didn't know her, but it was the funniest thing I've heard. Ever.

After passing through central Texas, things stared getting green, beautifully green. The trees, that you see on the right, started in Louisiana. Thats also where the humidity started. The picture you see on the right, thats all we saw from Louisiana to Florida. It was absolutely beautiful, nothing like we have in Southern California.

It was a long drive, took us a few days, but it was a lot of fun! We are making our lives in Florida pretty well. If you ever want to take a drive across the country, I highly suggest you do it! Go with friends, its less dangerous that way :)

What was your favorite trip or vacation? Tell me about it below in the comments!

Weekend Fun!

Wow what a weekend!

Catherine and I had a weekend off together for the first time since we moved here to Jacksonville. Yeah, we've had random days off, but we didn't have a Saturday AND Sunday off together. I want to recap this wonderful weekend for you!

Friday Night- Friday  night was the start of the epic weekend. After work, we went home, gathered our stuff for the weekend and our dog, Kimo, and went over to my cousins house. We got her caught up on the last of season four of Game of Thrones. STEPHANIE PRO TIP: Don't watch episode 8 before you go to bed if you don't want to go to bed angry. We ended up watching Game of Thrones until 3 a.m before being unable to watch anymore out of pure exhaustion.

Saturday- Being able to sleep until 11 a.m is needed from time to time, but the best part was waking up to cinnamon rolls! (Thank you Chelsea!) After some more visiting, Catherine and I took Kimo to Alpine Groves Park in Jacksonville, and it was BEAUTIFUL. Trees were huge, bugs weren't around, and there was a little festival going on, what a nice surprise! Kimo really enjoyed it, he doesn't get out much unfortunatley due to his lack of socialization from before we got him, but that is definitely changing soon. Kimo also got a bunch of new stuff, and his first Kong toy! Getting home, we relaxed and watched some movies. Kimo passed out from all the fun he had!

Sunday- After sleeping in some more (again, much needed for the both of us), we took our time getting ready for the day. I am on the hunt for any mismatched teacups for candle making, so we went to different thrift shops to hunt some down as we worked our way down to my aunts house for the Walking Dead gathering we have created between half the family. We only managed to find two, which we know exactly who they are going to :)
That was our fun weekend, what did you do this weekend!?

A Proper Introduction

I am staring at a blank page, and I have no idea what to write. While I was at work today, I thought of a bajillion things to write and explain, but now that I am sitting in front of the computer, I am drawing a complete blank. So I guess I will actually introduce myself. After all, I would like you to know more about me.

The Basics

I was born and raised in San Diego, California. I lived there my entire life, until I moved to Jacksonville, Florida this passed July. Its been fun, and its way different, but I love it so much more than San Diego.
I do have a YouTube channel, the link is in the sidebar ^.^
I have many hobbies, and they are constantly changing.

I am a huge Game of Thrones fan, and I am counting down the days for season five.

I am a very open person, if you want to tell me something, if you want to ask me something, please don't be afraid to chat with me!

New Blog?

As you probably already know, my name is Stephanie. If you didn't know, hello! I am Stephanie.

I make YouTube videos, and practically live on the internet, but I don't have a blog, never thought of having one until recently. I guess I just need a place to write things out instead of imagine them in my head forever.

I am going to be posting mostly life updates that I want to elaborate more on than just witty tweets or Facebook updates.

I am also in the works of a Day Zero Project, so stay tuned!
