My Favorite Spring Activities

Ah. April. Spring is upon us, it's getting warmer, and bugs are starting to come out. Best time of the year, right? I would say each season has its pros and cons, but I'm only here to talk about the pros! I'm actually here to tell you some of my favorite spring activities! These are some that I've developed while being in Florida, some from back home in California. 

1. Being outside 

  If you have been in California or Florida during the spring, you'd discover the weather is quite bipolar. Sometimes it rains for four days straight, other days it's ninety degrees outside, or even sometimes it's 60 degrees (which is cold to me, okay), or if you're in Florida it's still ninety degrees AND raining, but hey it's Florida. My favorite time of year to be outside is mid-late spring and mid-late fall. It's not too hot, not too cold, and usually not raining. The sunshine is nice, the breeze is cool, and again, it's usually not raining, so it's great to be outside. 

2. Go on a picnic

   This is one I haven't done in a few years, but if I have a day off, I'll rarely turn down a picnic! I used to go to. Lake back home with great grandparents when I was a kid. Go on walks around the lake, feed the ducks, chase the squirrels, get chased by geese. You know, kid things. 

3. Go on a hike 

Not many places in Florida to go hiking. A lack of mountains helps with that. But back home, my fiancé and I would go on hikes. Some easy, some difficult, some had a mix! The last time we went hiking, we got lost and ended up on the opposite side of the lake from where we were trying to be. That was my fault, I'll admit it. But we both slept like logs that night. You're welcome. 

4. Go fishing

Now what Florida has that San Diego lacked was fishing holes. Yeah, there are a few lakes, but unless you were fishing at 3am with magic bait, you were catching zilch. But in Florida, there are ponds and lakes and rivers everywhere that you can fish to your hearts desire (legally of course). I've yet to actually catch a fish, but they are well fed. Again, you're welcome. 

5. Watch thunderstorms on the patio

There also isn't many thunder storms back home, but there are plenty out here in the lovely sunshine state. We haven't had any lately (except for two nights ago) but during the summer, it's almost a nightly occurrence. They are easy to watch because a) again, no mountains to block the view of a storm. 20 some miles way and b) rain isn't synonymous with cold, like in California. The fiancé and I watched a thunderstorm about 10 miles away from us, on our porch wearing pants and T shirts. Not something I could have easily done in California.
